WANGANUI GOLF CLUB. ANNUAL REPORT. The following is the annual report, which will be presented at the annual meeting of the Wanganui Golf Club, to be held in Duigan’s Rooms at 7.30 o’clock on Friday evening next: — “The committee are again able to congratulate members on the continued prosperity of the club. "The annual tournament held in September was somewhat interfered with by the N.Z. Championship meeting, which was held at Hamilton a week later, and this no doubt accounted for the absence of any entry from scratch players outside our own club. The total of entries however was greater than in any previous year, and the financial result showed a profit to the club of £4l 15/3. “The open championship at the annual tournament was won by J. Harold, D. Meldrum being runner-up. The club championship was won by G. Saunders, who beat I. Saunders in the final. The Imlay Cup competition final round was played between J. Harold and D. H. Mac Kay, the latter winning. The Junior championship was won by H. Christie, who played A. H. Amess in the final. The Imlay Saunders Challenge Cup was won by F. S. Parkes. The winners of the various handicaps are: D. Meldrum, W. Rankin, S. Powdrell, G. Saunders, C. R. Treadwell (2), D. M. Murchie, R. A. Sutherland, J. Craig, H. J. Thornton, A. Robinson, G. F, Payne (2), G. N. Baggett. ‘ The annual match against Taranaki played at New Plymouth on October 25 resulted in a decisive win for the home team by 14 games to 3. •C. Lock was engaged as professional to the club for the season, and a cottage built for his use on the site behind the club house. “In October a visit to the course was arranged from J. H. Kirkwood, the Australasian and New Zealand Open Champion, and he gave a very fine exhibition of play to a number of interested spectators.”
