Owing to the asphalting not helnc quite finished. the courts at St. John’s Club will now probably be opened 00 Saturday, the 13th. WANGANUI ASSOCIATION. ANNUA L MEETING. 1 The annual meeting of the Wanganui Tennis Association wa.s held on November 1. Mr Lampe presiding over a good audience. The chairman reviewed the activities ••f last season, and concluded by donating a new Cup for competitions in the A grade tennis among the town clubs. On the motion of Mr Vance, a hearty vote of thanks was accorded the chairman for the Cup. Election of officers.—The following officers were elected: Patron. Mr J. Anderson; president. 31 r Lampe; vice-pre-sidents. Messrs Swain, Lane and Dr. Baird; management committee; Messrs Wagstaff. Reynolds, Vance, Fowdrell, and Po.wnall: vice-president to N.Z. L.T.A.. Mr Lampe; delegates to N.Z, L.T.A.. Messrs Melody and Evans; hon. auditors. Messrs Woollanu and C. S. Brown.

Tennis Courts - It was resolved that it be a recommendation to the committee that inter-club teams should consist of four men and four ladies, and that combined doubles be omitted. TEITNIC ITEMS. { Tennis enthusiasts of Wanganui and surrounding districts will be glad to hear that Die N.Z. Lawn Tennis Association has favoured Wanganui by arranging for th« visting New South Wales championship tennis team to play a match in Wanganui on the 22nd December. against a representative team selected from Manawatu, Wanganui and Taranaki. The visitors will be the six best, players of New South Wales and will include players who will almost certainly be chosen in the Davis Cup matches. it is intended that the visitors will play exhibition games against each other in addition to the match. The cup now on view in the Herald window is the cup donated by Mr Lampe, as a trophy for the senior grade local tennis clubs' competition. The cup will be. competed for this year, and will in the future prove a valuable history of the game in our town.

The Wanganui Lawn Tennis Association has decided to make the fostering of tennis in our local schools one of its chiel objects With this end in view the Association has decided to invite a deputation of Wanganui schoolmasters to discuss a plan of action for the coming tennis season.
