This big annual 'gathering has established itself as one of the most important agricultural fairs in Australasia, and attracts the leading .'stock breeders from all parts of both ! islands, who are here enabled to meet 'and compare notes with advantage to themselves and the Dominion. It. is a matter for regret that the weather for the grand metropolitan .-noxv has proved most unpropiti. us of late years. Yesterday was devoted to judging in .’the Home Industries, Needlexvork. Phonograph. and Art Sections, and jumping competitions. A very line exhibition was made of machinery, implements, and vehicles, which gave fanners an : opportunity of inspecting the most mod- : ern improvements. The experienced secretary, Mr W. T. : Penny, and his capable sinh, had all the arrangements working most smoothly. To-day will be an important one. as all nurses, cattle, sheep and dogs xvill be judged, while excellent entertainment ‘ should be afforded by the leaping compeiition (steeplechase style) and the competitions for boy and girl riders, ladies’ hunters, harness horse, best lady driver, and ladies’ hacks.
