j WANGANUI CLUB. ANNUAL TOURNAMENT. The Wanganui Golf Club's annual tournament will commence on the Belmont links this morning. About 80 goners, from as far afield as Christenurch, will compete, but much better entries would nave been received had the Wanganui tournament commenced a (couple of days earlier. Had a start 'been made on Monday it is almost certain that such noted players as Hugh Crosse, the N.Z. amateur champion, ana Kapi Tareha, who won the Manawatu championship last week, would have been seen in action here. Hamilton is the Mecca of New Zealand's best players just now, as the N.Z. Golf Club’s Championship meeting- commences there next week, and aspirants for championship honours are naturally anxious to familiarise themselves with the course before serious play commences. Those who take part in the Wanganui tournament, which finishes on I’TiUay, will just be able to reach Hamilton in time to tee off for the qualifying rounds for the N.Z. Championship. It is not surprising, therefore, that Crosse and Tareha, and possibly others who would have liked to have taken part in the Wanganui tournament, preferred to go straight to Hamilton in order that they might get the hang of the course before such an important competition as the N.Z. Championship tournament. TO-DAY’S DRAW. Tiie following is the draw for the qualifying- rounds for the Wanganui amateur championships and medal (matches, which will be played to-day:— G. Gudgeon v. J.
