Mussen (Christchurch) 9.11, lost to Desmond (Wellington). 9.8. After -a splendid even fight Desmond was declared the winner —this was received with a mixed reception. Welters: D. Dawless (Gisborne) ' 10.6, beat L. O’Neill (Greymouth) 1.0.344. After a great light Lawless won on points. Mid<l leweights: H. North (Otago) 10.13, beat P. Gillespie (Manawatu) 10.12. North showed more science and was awarded the fight. Heavyweights: B. McCleary (Ashburjton) 11.9. beat M. J. Brownlie (Hastings) f 1,2.8. The greatest fight of the evening. McCleary held command and winning the championship amid loud applause. McCleary was carried shoulder high from the ring.
