U.S. AND PEACE.
WASHINGTON, June 10. Mr Roots compromise, whereby approval is expressed of some general action for future world’s peace, and also of the Senate’s iejection of the Versailles Treaty, is believed to have averted a Republican split. The sub-com-mittees unanimously agreed on a resolution to this effect. Senator Lodge s influence carried the day against the League of Nations.
