There is scarcely a meeting of importance where he does not ride into a place. Since March ’22nd he has had 23 winners. Donoghue leads with 43 winners. Carslake has 26 wins. The stand and Royal pavilion have been thoroughly renovated. The lawns and flower beds are in perfect condition. Royalties will attend every day. Albion Park Cup.—The Whallen 1, Soldier’s March 2, Jaculator 3. Won by four lengths. Time: 2.23%. GISBORNE MEETING CONCLUDED. (Per Press Association). GISBORNE, June 12. The Gisborne steeplechase meeting concluded in showery weather, which affected the attendance. During the night heavy rain fell and the course was heavy. The tote put through £14,002, against £19,352 last year. The total for the tw-o days was £25,875, compared with £36,349 last year, a decrease of 110.474. Results: — Hurdles. — Cymer (Tricklebank) 1, Crossw-ords 2, Hoki Fox 3. Also: Lord Ainslie. Head; three lengths. Time: 3.24. Maiden Hack. — Anata (Manson) 1, Whanoko 2, Waikohu 3. Also: Mannikin, Demlone, Queen’s Up, Jovial, Flywheel. Neck; two lengths. Time: 1.6. Waikanae Handicap.—Patetonga (Jennings) 1, Gazique 2, Persian King 3. Also: Cleft, Orateur, Acquittal. Head; two lengths. Time: 1.4 8. Acquittal fell and broke a fetlock and had to be destroyed. The rider, Lowe, was uninjured. . Teha.para Steeples.—Fagot (Fitzgerald) 1. Also: Brunswick. The only starters. Brunswick fell and his rider injured his collarbone. Allan Stevens, clerk of the course, rode to the hurdle and mounted Brunswick and set out fur second money. When half the distance was over Rigney mounted Brunswick and finished the race. At the meeting the stewards decided no second money could be given Rigney, as the horse was mounted a third time without the second rider being thrown. The stewards commented on the sporting action of Rigney in mounting Brunswick to finish the race. No time was taken. Second Hack Flat. —Tieki (Sinclair) 1, Whanoko 2, Glenyle 3. Also. Orawia.
