LONDON, Necember 1. The House of Commons, by 276 to 84, rejected Mr Bottomley's motion in favour of premium bonds. Mr ■ Chamberlain admitted that on further consideration he had changed his mind now, without raising the question of the moral right and wrong and was opposed to premium bonds. On the broad grounds of financial expediency there was no attraction in premium bonds, apart from the gambling chance. It would probably capture some money not now saved, but an, inconsiderable amount compared with the monies which would be "Withdrawn from savings banks and war loans. Mr Bonar Law endorsed Mr Chamberlain's remarks.
Mr Harmsworth stated that the Allies had decided, owing to Roumania's attitude, to withdraw facilities for supplies, and already supplies have been suspended. *
Mr Forster, Parliamentary Secretary of the War Office, has resigned, owing to ill-health, and receives a barony.
