PATEA ELECTION.
MR PEARCE AT BRUNSWICK
MR POWDRELL ASKED TO
RETIRE
There w&s an attendance of 66 electors at the Brunswick Hall last night, when a political address was given by Mr G. V. Pearce, M.P., the official Reform Party candidate.
Mr A. N. Cave presided
• Mr Pearce spoke for an hour and a half on th.c lines of his previous addresses, and received a most attentive hearing.
Mr Currie moved a vote of thanks and confidence in Mr Pearee as the mefmbor for the Patea electorate, coupled with a request that, in the interests of the Reform Party, Mr Powdrell, should stand down,.
One of the electors asked that the motion should be separated, and the mover agreed.
The motion of thanks and confidence was seconded by Mr Campbell and carried with only one dissentient.
The second portion of the motion, asking Mr Powclrell to retire, was seconded by Mr Crawley and carried unanimously.
