APPEAL COURT.

AN INTERESTING CASE

(Per Press Association.)

WELLINGTON, October 20

The Court to-day is hearing the case of Bradley v. the District Land Registrar, a special case stated by the Registrar-General of Land. The claimants had lodged an application in 1912 to bring the land under the Land Transfer Act, and the point at issue is whether native freehold land not under the Land Transfer Acfc can be acquired by prescription. Grants had been issued to certain natives from the Crown by way of compensation under Section 5 of the New Zealand Land Settlements Act. 1863. The claimants allege that they have been in actual possession for 20 years, and claim to have issued to them certificates o£ title. The Solicitor-General appeared for the Registrar-General and Mr Skerrett. X.C.. and Mr Cohen for the claimants.
