OBITUARY.
MR. JOHN LINDSAY.
We have to record the passing of another of Wanganui's old settlers in the person of Mr John Lindsay, of Campbell Street. Mr Lindsay arrived in Wanganui in the early sixties and settled at Fordell in the employment of the old and respected firm of Reed and Hume, of Fordell Farm. Later he went into the employment of the lats Mr J. A. Burnett, at Oneida, and over a long period of years was a valued servant and trusted friend of the several, members of that family,. and untli his retirement now several years back. Mr Linds,ay, or "Little Jack" as he was best known to his many friends, was a ma^ of sterling character and honourable dealing. Many old settlers of our town and districts will retain kindly recollection of the deceased gentleman, and will learn with keen regret of his death- Although full of years, to the last he retained a characteristic fondness for the company of young people, and many of the younger generations will miss the kindly word and greeting extended to them at all times.
