ANOTHER DRINK VICTIM.

DUNEDIN, Sept. 22

An inquest was opened to-day . on the body of Frederick Cowan, who died in hospital on Sunday. Deceased was arrested on the 16th inst. on a charge of drunkenness and remanded for seven days for medical treatment. He was removed to the hospital on Saturday. Dr. Evans said deceased suffered' from chronic alcholism and bronchial asthma. Deceased was formerly engaged on clerical work at Trenthspa Camp, and had been drinking heavily since his discharge. The inquest was adjourned till Tuesday to secure evidence from Dr. Fitzgerald.
