The following statement, showing the whole cost to New Zealand of the military occupation of Samoa to June 30, 1919, has been supplied by the Minister o£ Defence for publication: —Mobilisation and equipment of troops (advance party and Samoan relief) camps), £9163 9s 4d; equipment, £10,640 16s 4d; advertising, printing, etc., £2C6 33s ll,d; postage, telegrams, etc., £19 76 9s 6d; transports (including hires, fitting out, fuel, etc.), Moeraki £19,672 6s lid, Monowai £13,377 3s 9d, Talune 1£14,697 2s 3d; other items of transport—men returning to New Zealand, freight, etc. — £56,375 12s 8d; pay( advance party and Samoan reliefs) and allowances of troops, £207,866 os; provisions and supplies, forage, £18,135 10s 3d; rations, £60,17:* 8s 3d; medical fees, including examination and equipment, £5532 12s 7d; other items of expenditure (prisoners of war), £487 4s; mechanical transport, £1779 11s sd; purchase of | horses, £760 17s sd;( grand total, i £411, 905 3s 7d.
