OBITUARY.

SUDDEN DEATH OF MR.-J. K. LAW

The news that -Mr J. K. Law, headmaster of*the Aramoho School, was found dead on the road near Opunake yesterday, will come as a severe shock to a large circle of friends. Mr Law had a farm at Opunake, and as was his custom, was spending the school holidays there. Recently he had been in indifferent health, and had been attended by Dr. Reid for heart trouble. Under the circumstances an inquest will not be necessary. The body was removed to Opuntfke, and will be brought to Wanganui for burial.

The late Mr Law was 60 years of age, and would have retired from his profession next December ,on superannuation. He joined the service of the Wanganui Education Board in 1886 as an assistant teacher. In Februai-y, 1887, he went to the Okoia School as head teacher, and in February, 1889, he went to the Manaia School in a similar position. Mr Law was, appointed to take charge of the Aramoho School on May Ist, 1910, a position that he filled with every credit up to the present time.

The deceased gentleman was a keen critical student of national and municipal affairs, and manifested a deep and unselfish concern in all matters affecting the interests of the community. As chairman of the Durie Hill Ratepayers' and Householders' Association, he rendered valuable Service to the suburb. He was an enthusiastic bowler, playing for the Wanganui Club. A widow and daughter (Mrs Hunter) are left to mourn their loss, and to them we extend our sympathy.
