PNEUMONIA IN CHRISTCHURCH.

BUT NO OCCASION FOR ALARM.

(Ver Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, August 14

A fairly large number of cases of pneumonia are reported in Christchurch, and some alarm is felt at.the prevalence of the disease, but Dr. Chesson, District Health Officer, and private doctors, report there is nothing in the nature of an epidemic, and if care is taken most Npatients should have a comparatively quick recovery. "There is nothing to warrant undue alarm," are Dr. Chesson's words. Dr. Chesson added that the figures did not show that pneumonia was more prevalent now than "this time last year. Previously it was not a notifiable disease, and as no figures affecting it were compiled it was impossible to know how far it extended through the district. The position probably was the same as usual.
