RETURNED SOLDIERS' ART UNION.
The Wanganui East, ladies'had a very successful dny selling goods in aid of the Building Fund. Competitions resulted as follows:—
Book of poems—No. 7, Mr K. Gray, Long Acre Valley; silk shirt, No. 19, Mr H. Drew; No. 1 goose, N 0.,29, Mr. L. J. Sigley; No. 2 goose, No.! 6, .Vlrs. A. Reed, Dublin Sfc^; work basket, Fo. 11, Miss Lux ford, Wanganui East; f>rescreen, No. 5. Mrs C. Stewart, White St., Wnnganui East; silver jam d'sh, No. 4, Mrs Smith* May St., Gonvilie; cushion, winner Mrs Goldsack, Upper Aramoho; crepe de chine blouse, 18, Mrs A. Kenciriek, Wanganui East; sup. per cloth, No. 2, Mrs Chapman, Wanganui East; sack coal, Mr J. Foster (2551 lbs, nearest (correct weight 240£ lbs.) The proceeds for the day were £24 16s. 2u; disposing of 490 art union .tickets. The soldier boys hope that ladies from other suburbs Vill help the Building Fund in a similar manner. The Patriotic Shop (next the Bank of N.ew South Wales) has been placed at the disposal or the returned soldiers. Winners of competitions are asked to call at the Soldiers' Club for prizes.
