QUEEN OF THE SOUTH.
FURTHER PARTICULARS
BLENHEIM, May 12
The tyieen of the South left Wellington at 11 p.m. on the 9th inst. with Captain Dwen and 12 of a crew. It was a very foggy morning, and the light at Cape Campbell was not seen three miles distant. She struck at-3 a.m.
The crew are quite comfortable, and have plenty of clothing and blankets. The vessel is-fast on the rocks, with a big hole amidships, and will probably become a total wreck.. There is a heavy swell on the reef, and it is impossible for a tender to get alongside. The chances of salving the cargo are considered hopeless.
ABANDONED TO UNDERWRITE
WELLINGON, May 12. The owners of the Queen of the South have decided to abandon her to the underwriters.
