BUSINESS NOTES.

Mr. Thomas James, son of the late well-known breeder, William James, returned from active service a few days ago and is able to give us some valuable information in connection with the cattle to be sold at Corbett Road on Friday next. "Segis Galatea" (a five-year-old cow) has never been beaten in the Show ring. "Nazli Payne Segis,' a magnificent type of the Friesian, and only coming 7 years has been shown on numerous ~;:casions at the Taranaki and Palmerston Shows, and has never been turned away, taking first award at these Exhibitions always. Two of the two-year-old heifers, "Poplarvale Silvery do Kol" and "Poplarvale Alcartra" took first award at Palmerston North and Taranaki in 1917 as pair of yearling heifers, and when shown separately in single heifer class took first and second prizes at both shows in classes of over 20. Many of the cows were started under semi-official test this last season, but when Mr. James' health gave out, this part of his stud farm had unfortunately to be cut out. Several of the cows to be offered have already • semi-official records but these are not available at present, but will be obtained during the week, and the information will be available in the sale ring on Friday next. Mr. Thomas James expresses himself as highly pleased vith the condition of the stock at the present time and anticipates that breeders will be present in strong force on Friday to secure some of these highly-bred aristocrats.
