TRAINS HELD UP

(Per Press Association.) DUXEDIN, April 22

The express from Invercargill was held up at Gore for an hour this morning as the railway at McNab was covered by several inches of water. The ti-ain reached Dunedin 46 minutes late, and left for Christchurch at noon.

A sharp rise occurred in the Molyneux river on Monday night, and this morning the embankment at Smits (Stirling), which was temporarily repaired after the recent big floods, gave way, a considerable area of the Stirling and Kaitangata flats being submerged, in some places to a depth of two or three feet.

The Kaitangata branch is flooded and is not expected to be fit for traffic till Saturday. Meantime communication will be effected hy a drag.
