MAY
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Auril 51
The Hon. Wilford will recoi-ve all returns in connection with the poll and the first official announcement made by him will be throug'j the Gazette.
The Government has decided tbat district results may be made public as soon as they gro to the chief returning officer, but eve i with the last district result known the issue will be in doubt unless one side or other has a majority of 45,000 [the stze .of the soldiers' vote). The votes recorded in the Unite.l Kingdom, France and Egypt will be cabled, but wireless will not be used. Thus the final result of the poll cannot be announced till after the arrival of the last troops'a'p hailing from England before April 10th. Thus it will be fairly late in May befroe an announcement is made. No soldiers' votes wili 'be announced till the Gazette is issued.
