NEW YORK, March 29
The New York Times commenting on the reported Nationalist riots in Egypt points out that Egypt came under British rule through the incompetence of the native government. The paper says that if Egypt is given independence now, probably in a few years the country will be in turmoil. It adds: Britain is prepared to give the Egyptians selfgovernment by degrees as they fit themselves for the responsibility.
