GENERAL PAU'S TOUR.
A SYRIAN GREETING
(Per Press Association.)
WELLINGTON, January 21
A delegation from the Syrian Society of Wellington called on General Pa.v this afternoon to bring to him the greetings of the Syrian residents on the victory of the Allies. They presented the general with a very fine Maori carved pipe as a memento of his passage here. The general expressed most hearty thanks for their greetings, and reminded them that the traditional links of sympathy had always tied the French and Syrians. He also thanked them for the proofs of friendship which the Syrians had given to France, both in the distant past and during the great war, and for the practical token of good feeling which now exists between the Syrians and the French.
