"'die Dance of fche Season,'' was the general verdict delivered last evening in regard to the annual ball given by Mr s Cleland's pupils. It really w«i s a mo.sL successful affair. l<'rom 7 to 9 o'clock was allocated to the childiv»i, and the picture they presented ,vas <fnarni»ing. Mrs Cleland is undoubtedly a clever teacher, for t-ho pupils showed that th<;y l.iad been trained to ;i remarkable degree, of efficiency. The fancy da-noes were warmly applauded, as they well deserved to be. After the little ones had departed to their homes., the adults, who were present in targe numbers, took the floor, and dancing continued merrily till an early hour. A very nice, supper was provided. a.nd, needless t° say, much appreciated. During th.j evening Mrs Mackay, on behalf of Mrs Cleland. presented the following prizes, wl.-ich had been awarded for good !>ebaviour and attendance during the, year: .Joyce Currie. .Jean Swan, Fxlina Munro, Phyllis Haine.v. Lieshen Swan, Dorce-n Bourne, Klla Varley, Beth Mflckay, Peggie' Anderson. Mildred Cottle'.Jack Wells. Betty Mutton- The esteem in which Mrs Cleland is held by her pupils was shown by a presentation, which took the form of some daim v china.
