THE TOWN OUTFLANKED.

French communique: The first French Army, co-operating with the British in the region of St Quentin, achieved important results to-day. Pursuing the retreating enemy we penetrated St Quentin as far as the canal. Tho Germans are still stubbornly resisting at the extremities of the town, which is outflanked. Northward we reached the oanal between Tronquoy and Rouvroy. Southwards we progressed towards the Hindenburg Line to a point two kilometres east of Gauehy.
The gallant Fourth Army in the Champagne, continuing its effort of the preceding days, increased itos advantage. We conquered en the right, in the Aisne Valley, Autry and Autry Wood, and Vaux Les Mourna, five kilometres north of Boucondille, Farther west, we reached the southern outskirts of Challe Range.
