EXPECTED.
(Received Oct 2. 10.30 p.m.)
LONDON, Qct 1
Reuter learns that the Bulgarian armistice operates immediately. It provides for the immediate evacuation of such parts of Greece and Serbia as are in the hands of the enemy; the immediate demobilisation of the army; and the handing over to the Allies of all kinds of transport, boats, and railways. Moreover, the Allies will control ail arms, which will be collected in stores. The Allies are to have free passage through Bulgaria. They will occupy points of strategic importance. This occupation in Bulgaria is to be- carried out by British, French or Italian troops, while Greek districts will be occupied ?>y Greeks and Serbian districts by Serbians. The agreement made is the most complete military surrender of Bulgaria. The results will be very far-reaching. Political questions are to be referred to the ultimate general peace conference. It is thus hoped lo secure permanent peace to the Balkans, and the Allies can now hold out a better prospect of the ultimate friendly solution of the Balkan problems than by any other scheme.
