The United States Consul-General at Sofiai has arrived at Salonika. He states that King Ferdinand on the 23rd called a Grand Council, which made formal requests to Berlin and Vienna for immediate assistance. Despite the dramatic tone of the message Austria and Germany replied that nothing could be done at present. King Ferdinand immediately decided to place the destinies of Bulgaria in the hands of the Entente. The assassination of tho« Czar of Russia was preying on his mind. He could not sleep, and feared ai revolution.
