"THE JEWEL OF DESIRE," OR "THE NAULAHKA."
; Two Colorado towns are rivals for a certain railway which is to bs built. In order to secure it for the town ot Tepaz, Nicholas Tarvin (Antonio Moreno) promises the wife of the railroad president that he will obtain for her the reiiowned jewel named " The Naulahka." He sets out to India in quest of it. The girl he loves is Kaio Sherriff (Helene Chadwick), and in spite of his attempts to dissuade her, she lias already decided to go to India as a. doctor, to save the lives of Hindoo women. Thus, on different errands, they find themselves in the same town in India. Ther^ is a deal of exciting intrigue in the Rajah's harean. Eventually they return safely to Colorado, and find that Topaz already has the railway, so that the failure to secure the Naulahka really does not matter. The supporting pictures include a very clever picture showing the movements oi: a horse in the act- of jumping steeplechase obstacles, every move from the take-off to landing is shown by a. special process.
