CASTLECLIFF TOWN BOARD.
At the monthly meeting of the abov*?, held last evening, there were present: Commissioners G. M. Cresswell, Firth, Neweombe, Passmore. Brown, and Me. Kenzie. „ The bank balance was reported: Dr. £355 2s lOd.
The Chairman reported on the proposed formation of an esplanade along portion of the sea-front, hut considered that the work tfas somewhat premature. On the motion of Commr. Firth, a recommendation to tike in-coming Board is to be made.
The Valuation Department forwarded (advice note of balance of subsidy, £21 Os. 9d\. making the total subsidy £100 18s. 3d. ■
The Mangaahao Electric Power League wrote asking for all information as to the probable amount of power required in the district. All-possible assistance in the direction requested is to be given, also the Board's hearty approval of the scheme.
An anonymous letter was "not received."
The Valuer-General wrote re the adjustment of boundaries between tho Waitotara County and the Town Dist. rict, and an area of 33 acres 3 roods had been added to the Town Board roll.
Plans were received froon Mr J. Annabell for amended grades and extend, ing Karaka and Karewa Streets on the same formation as previously done.— Referred to the Works Committee.
A complaint from Miss E. M. Gilchrist re danger from drifting sa.nd, an! asking that tho Board make the bank stable, was referred to the Board's foreman.
Mr. J. Pepper having resigned the position of ranger, the matter of appointing a successor was left in the hands of tkie Chairman to confer with the Gonville Town Board.
Mr C. C. Hutton wrote warning the B»otard of a hole in the <?eafront road. While motoring .along here, his car fell into the trap. He did not know if it had sustained any damage, or, even if it had, that he would claim compensation, but he just warned the Board of the .serious risks it ran. —The Foreman reported that he had had the road closed for a week prior fo Mr Hutton's visit. Steps would be taken, so \hi\t no further accident would be likely, to hap^ pen.
The Foreman reported ''hat a considerable amount of maintenance work had been carried out in the district, and that lupins, at a cost of £18 Ids., had been planted on tho sand drift. He recommended that more lupins be plant, cd.
A general rate of lid. and a special rate of ;'fd. were struck.
In connection with the formation of the road on the seafront, several fences 1-iave to bo lowered, and the Board d&cided to do so at its own expense.
