WANGANUI EDUCATION BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Wanganui Education Board was held last evening, there- being present: MessrsH. F. Hemingway R. L. Christie, F. Mclntyre, R. L. Bryant, R. L. Broad, R. Sewell, A. J. Joblin, W. A. Collins. Leave of absence was granted to Mr. Fraser. Bank balance reported on 16th July as Or £291 18s 2d; Queen's Park Insurance in hand, £1000; Beaconsfield Insurance in hand, £225. FOREMAN'S REPORTS. Certain plastering work at Aramoho School, was approved. Erection of chimney at Carnarvon was approved. A grant was made towards the erection of a partition. " Two new shelter sheds to be erected at Ilongotea. Grant of £20 for improving drainage at Feilding D.H.S.. Account for repairs, £6 4s Id, passed for payment. Repairs to shelter shed, paths, and and school to be carried oxit. Repairs to out offices at.College St., to be carried out. Renovations to the extent of £45 to be carried cmt on residence at Parewanui. . . Repairs to roof of school, paintisg Assembly Hall, and repair s to fenc-s *t Foxton, approved. OTHER BUSINESS. Alterations to conveniences at tcniporcury classrooms for Queen's Park ! pupils, approved. Recommendation re flooring tempor- • ary classrooms at College St. and Terrace End were endorsed. Taonui is to be assisted £ for £ in. laving drain, etc. 'Grant to Raurimu for carting pumice. Ra-agataua granted £2 Is 8d for glazing windows broken by gale. . ' Subsidy of £ for £ granted to Saason for re-glazing and metalling. ' Glen Oroua granted £3 for residence. Wanganui Commifctoo to he asked to sup-ply Board with estimate of cost of fencing. Foreman to be asked to report on matter of fencing at Makotuku. Mr' L. Berry (Okoia) granted £2 for papering residence. Raurimu grantee* £6 towards cost of fence. Wagee <if painiieTls increased one 'shilling a day. Question of establishing a small household school at Okauterc (Ashurst) was left to the Ciref Inspector to report on. > The Education Department made a grant for temporary premises at Beaconsfield. ■ Proposed new site at Coal Creek was agreed to. The Education Department having declined to approve of the proposed site for the Technical School at Raetihi, '. tho matter is to he further explained to the Department. Mr. Pirani was re-appointod to represent the Edncatiori" Board on the Wanganui Girls' College Board. N.Z. Fruit Growers' Federation proposed essay competition was referred to ' the Chief Inspector, and the Federation is to be thanked for its generosity. The Chief Inspector is to be asked to report on the proposed new school at Crofton, to take the place of the Marton and Marton Junction schools. Resignations of E. M. Richardson (Taumata) and M. Lacy (R«taruke) , weto received. • : Mr. Sewt'll brought up the matter of the state of the grounds at Wanganui East school.
