"THE NEW HENRIETTA."
Messrs. J. and N. Tait's New Comedy Company will on Thursday nighr,, at the Opera House, produce Winciieii Smith's Comedy-drama "The New Henrietta", a play that comes to us with a big American and Australian reputation. The company's work in "Turn to the Right" was a huge order, but in the new piece they are given «. great chance of displaying their histrionic ability. In noticing the first performance of the play in Adelaide a few weeks ago the "Herald" says:— " 'The New Henrietta' scores because it hits an audience right where they live. In other words, it plays from first to last upon the susceptibilities of human nature, and is instantaneous in the grip it secures upon the atteution of its beholders. A crowd will alAvays. respond wholeheartedly to ttiw merriment of a clever comedy situation, follow with tensest interest and pent-up excitement the approach or a climax, and offer its sympathetic approval to the love-making proclivities of the loading characters, excepting, of course, the villain. Being essentially true to incidents of everyday are such moments have a directness of appeal that cannot be avoided. 'The New Henrietta' is easily one of the best plays ever staged in Adelaide." The cast of characters is excellently allotted and local playgoers are ensured of enjoying a rare treat. Owing to the Company, being due tto appear in Sydney oa Boxing night, and other prior arrangements having to be fulfilled, it is impossible to give more than, one performance in Wanganui. The box plan will be opened at H. I. Jones' this morning.
