TO AID THE LOYALISTS.
ALLIES' PLANS
LONDON, Dec. 2. ! In a special article dealing with the j Russian position, the "Times" says :— Lfter the publication of the secret treaties at Petrograd. the Allies gave up tope that the Bolsheviks would be cap;ble of honest dealing, and are therefore exploiting the possibilities of getting aid to the Cadets. Kaledin, aud other loyal forces, which are mainly grouped in the south and south-Avest of Russia. -Experts suggest a route through Persia, but the mam topic if: Will Japan declare war against the Bolsheviks, occupying the Pacific seaboard ? though it is regarded as most unlikely that Japan will send troops to Europe. M. Clemenceau has been a, consistent advocate of this, and is anxious to arrange terms. It is fully .agreed that the loyalists of Russia are capable of making a strong fight. It may be impossible for them to hold a large Austro-German army tied to Russia, but their assistance would be stronger if Allied aid arrives. It is a mistake to regard Germany as rushing for a Russian peace. It is pointed out that the Junkers and militarists fear tb%t negotiations will enable Lenin and Trotsky to secure troops from the front who are necessary for fighting'against Kaledin, thus assisting to establish a revolutionary State, which will be contagious, and certain to affect German revolutionaries. STOCKHOLM, Dec. 2. Travellers from Petrograd state that all classes are starving. Lenin has proved unable to solve the food problem, and has ruined his position with the lower classes. Terrible hunger demonstrations ere likely.
