At a meeting of the Patea Chambe/ or Commerce it was unanimously decided that the Chamber support the resolution of the Wanganui Chamber of Commerce to the effect that Wanga- * nui and suburbs should .be divided into twp electorates, containing sufficient country population in each to make up the quota on a basis of community of interest, a nd considers.that the pro- • 1 posed district as defined-by the Electoral Boundaries Commission, is unsatisfactory. ,' The traffic bridge • over the Patea river was criticised by the Chambe-, and it was pointed out that tho bridge was the main thoroughfare between Wellington and Taranaki, nad abso-. lutely dangerous for adults when cattle were being driven over it, let alone tor children.
