PATEA.
THE ELECTORAL BOUNDARIES*
At a meeting of the Patea Chambe/ or Commerce it was unanimously decided that the Chamber support the resolution of the Wanganui Chamber of Commerce to the effect that Wanga- * nui and suburbs should .be divided into twp electorates, containing sufficient country population in each to make up the quota on a basis of community of interest, a nd considers.that the pro- • 1 posed district as defined-by the Electoral Boundaries Commission, is unsatisfactory. ,' The traffic bridge • over the Patea river was criticised by the Chambe-, and it was pointed out that tho bridge was the main thoroughfare between Wellington and Taranaki, nad abso-. lutely dangerous for adults when cattle were being driven over it, let alone tor children. Human life was at present sufficiently precious to warrant steps being taken to preserve it. Pveeently a serious accident had occurred and it was decided that petition* be drawn up for signature, praying that a footbridge be, erected, and that the Borough Council be asked to assist in the matter. •
