WELLINGTON, Oct. 25. The barometer rose in the south on Wednesday night, but there has been little change* in atmospheric pressure in thQn»north. Mild and humid conditions have ruled, and rain has fallen, especially in the northern parts of the South Island, and winds have been variable. Present indications are for moderat^to strong and variable winds, north-easterly to south-easterly prevailing. -Expect chiliy and misty conditions, with drizzling rain in many 'parts. The barometer has a falling tendency.
