NEW ZEALAND'S RESOLUTION.
' Of the highest importance at the present moment," says the New YorJr "Globe," referring to the resolution passed by both Houses of the Dominion Parliament on the third anniversary of the declaration of war, "is the affirmation or faith and determination Vp the New Zealand Parliament. Of all the States m Christendom none has so radical a constitution as New Zealand. In the practical application of Socialist doctrine that far country is the world's leader. Reforms on tentative trial in older lands, or as yet no more than aa-
voeated, are there incorporated in the fundamental law of the State. New Zealand is the banner country of radicalism, and^ it is not pacifist. From the beginning, indeed, New Zealand has taken a stand second to no portion of the British Empire in her enthusiasm ror the cause of civilisation and in her personal contribution to the victory of that cause. Long ago the "Anzacs" won fame for doughty deeds, and among their number the New Zealand°rs have stood out resplendent in devotion and .valour. The people of this preeminently radical commonwealth have suffered no mental fogginess as to the issues in the war. They have seen clearly the side, and the only side. on which the interests of radicalism could lie, and on that side they have fought like men. And all this, in a country as little exposed to the acuter penis of Prussian aggression as any country on this earth could be. Th*e example of New Zealand ought to be a pillar of fire to our radicals here at home. In the light of it one is less disposed than ever to acquit a pacifist who does not care enough about peace to fight for it, of secret sympathy with Prussiani sm."
