It is hoped that a good muster will turn up to complete the work of planting. Ladies and boys will bo welcomed. Men with spades are wanted. Afternoon tea will bo provided.

Ihe illuminated address which the Harbour Board staff intend to present to Mr C. H. Howorth (late resident engineer) i s now on view in Messrs. iJj Wllll. s and c<)-'s window. The a j es£' whlch is beautifully iluminatr crt, reflects great credit on the artist, who has worked in five views (photographs taken by Mr F. Denton) in a very pleasing and appropriate manner. Ihe top left and right-hand corners represent the work done at the quarries, whilst thft bottom left-hand corner shows the barque "Alexa" being towed to sea, and jusi between the two moles; in the right-hand corner is a general view of shipping at the wharf, whilst m the centre at the top is a good general view of Wanganui. The fiddress is beautifully finished, arid nicely framed, and should make a splendid souvenir for Mr. Howorth, as well as showing the esteem in which he is held by all members of tho Harbour Board staff.

A meetmg of the Executive of the Dune Hill Ratepayers and Householders' Association was held in Mr J. L. Stevenson's office last evening. Present—Messrs J. K. Law (chairman) J. Nairn (hon. cc?.), Davis, Read, Mclarlane, Ball, gikock, and Hagae Smith. After the confirmation of the minutes, correspondence was read from the Borough Council. Subscriptions tor the year 1917-18 being now due ;t was resolved that the secretary send ouc notices to all concerned. It was decided to hold the annual meeting of the Association on Monday, 29th October, in the school house. It was reported that the amount in hand to date for the Taylorville Improvement Fund totalled £35 14s 6d. in connection with which, for work • already done, accounts to the amount of £14 12s-were passed for payment. A vote of thanJss was accorded to Mr Silcock for the interest he had taken in the supervision of the work. The chairman and Messrs Davis, .Silcock, Nairn,- Hague Smith, were appointed a deputation to wait upon the Borough Council at :ts next meeting relative to matters of importance to the suburb. Votes cf thanks were accorded to the borough gardener (Mr Tucker) for the interest he had shown in.the beautification of the zig-zag, and Mr Rasmussen for a donation of rose trees.
