Yesterday the Wanganui East, ladies had charge or the Patriotic Red Cross biiop, and their effort was most successiulj the gross takings being £90 los. One feature was a flag collection, a little girl singing "Please give .me a penny." The response was excellent. Home-made sweets made a fine showing, surprise bags sold readily, and in every respect the ladies made a fine showing. The competition results were an follows: No. 1, camisole top, Miss Iris Buckrell; No. 2, camisole top, Mrs Tyreman; cake No. ], T. Aamodt; cake No. 2, G. H. Pownall; cushion No. 1, Mrs. Keesing; cushion ISo. 2. Miss N. Pairmah, of Rapanui; box of. sweets, exact number 497, Miss Alexander, 500. Prizes may be obtained on application to the hon. secretary, Mrs E H. Suwted.
