V.M.C.A. AT THE FRONT.

We believe there has been a considerable undercurrent of feeling as the result of certain remarks made at a recent war lecture, which, rightly or wrongly, have been construed as reflecting upon the work of the V.M.C.A1' at the front. A soldier who has just recently returned from the front, and who has been asked upon various occasions as to whether the V.M.C.A. :M doing the work it is claiming to do, to set any possible doubts at rest has asked us to state that the V.M.C.A. is doing * a marvellous work, and especially on. the Western front,--where the services of such a body are so much required. The V.M.C.A. follows with the men right to the firing line. While some may call out against the quality of goods which occasionally are sold to the men, our info'rinant stated with definiteness that "a man was luckyaf he got any tucker at all." If any man.1 growls at the work of the V.M.C.A., well, he doesn't know what he is talking about. He cannot have' seen it ; ; t work on the Western Front- and, if this is so, he has no right to say anything which would detract against the only body which follows our men up 4-d the trenches to render them help when they need help &o muah. We would be sorry if any. such wrong impressions have gone forth, and our informant, who has been with the forces for a considerable period, andlwho has had ample opportunity of forming his own conclusions, ha-? felt impelled to speak J^ upo nthe matter, as he is afraid some might, on the strength of these wrh^fg impressions, withhold-further contributions, to the Y.M.C.A.'s funds.
