ZOO PROPRIETOR FINED.

AUCKLAND, August 21. Mr J. J. Boyd, Mayor of Onehunga, and proprietor of the Onehunga Zoo, was charged before Mr Fraser, S.M., that he voted at a meeting of the Onehunga Borough Council on a matter in which he had a direct or pecuniary interest, namely,- the rescinding of a bylaw which virtually concerned the existence of the Zoo. The Magistrate said that defendant had acted in his own interests, and insisted on pressing the matter against the wishes of a majority of the councillors. ,Defendant was convicted ajad fined ,£3O ; and coste. Leave to appeal was granted.
