GONVILLE BOWLING CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING

The annual meeting of the Gonville Bowling Club was held last night, when there was a good attendance of members at the club-house.

The annual report was as follows :— At the close of the year the membership stood at 9.3, an increase over the previous season of 12. A number, of the honorary members have signified tneir intention of transferring to the active list this coming season, and with the advent-of the Saturday half-holiday the strength of the club should be materially increased. The members of the club still on active service with the ISew Zealand Expeditionary Forces are Majors I>. Munro and J. T. Watson, Captain C. T. Cox, and Private K. A. Trenknei-. Lieut. C. N. Hood, who also joined the colours, is at present on sick leave. The committee have with great regret to record the deaths of Mr Hastings Moore, Mr T. B. Allen, and 'Mr H L. KingsleV) all of whom were among the first members of the cJub and held in the highest esteem. The opening of the season took place on the 30th September, and play was carried on up till the 12th May. The .green was, never in better playing condition, and great credit is due to Caretaker Mills for the results obtained. The club competitions were held :i& usual, and the keenest interest was shown therein.

The election of officers resulted :— President. Mr F. Symes; vice-president Mr F. Bourne; hen. secretary, Mr. H. A. Flower; hon. treasurer,' Mr F. Bourne; auditor, Mr A. Martin; delegates to centre, Messrs Bourne and Nixon; committee. Messrs N. Svenson, .T. C. Arnold, J. Bowater, W. S. Corby, F. Webb Jones. C. C. Moutray, E. McAneny, J. Ogiivie. J. Pawson: sole selector, Mr J, Wainhouse; deputy selector, Mr 'W. Corbv ; green committee, Messrs Flower, Pawson, and Webb Jones.

The members made eulogistic reference to the work of the hon. secretary and. Hon. treasurer, Messrs. H. A. Flower and F. Bourne respectively, during the year.
