A very pleasant afternoon was j spent, a great feature being the prej «entation of bodges to soldiers' mothers. ; The badges, which are very neat and \ pretty, are made of silver, the design being two fern loaves bordering tho edge, with a crown above and N.Z. be-i-low, while S.S. is engraved in the cen:tre. Around S.S. is inscribed "Mothi ers of Empire." Mrs Mackay, ihe pre- ' sident, preented the ' badges. On be[half of the soldiers' mothers, Mrs W. A j Yeitch thanked the members of the .Women's National Reserve for their I kindness in obtaining the badges, and [ also for the pleasont afternoon afforded | them. An enjoyable afternoon tea, vu. charge of Mrs,Kelly and 'Miss Cowper, j-vyas; /handed round, while a good musi;cal programme was given and much apjpreciated. Those who contributed ! items were:~Mis 3 Toxward Young, Mr and' Mrs W. McCaul, Nusset Wood, Miss Com-yns, Miss Handley, and little Miss Alice Devonport. The Women's National Reserve wish to thank all those who' kindly gave donations, and also those yffho contributed! "towards the afternoon tea.
