POST=WAR QUESTIONS.
MATTERS FOR CONSIDERATION.
Received August 19, 5.5 p.m
LONDON, August IS
In the House of Lords, Lord Dabernon asked what measures the Government contemplated to provide safe, economic and rapid sea communication within the Empire after the "war, also what is being done about harbour improvements.
Lord Curzon admitted that the question was of capital importance. The measures which Lord Dabernon indicated were of Imperial necessity and would become a greater necessity after the war to give a - great impetus to Imperial trade and increasing the strength anjl cohesion of the Empire. Lord Curzon hoped that some of the recommendations of the Dominions' Royal Commission would be adopted. They could not be tackled in war time owing to shortage of labour, etc. They would also require careful consideration by all the Government departments here and in the Dominions. He assured the House that the question would be kent in mind.
