VIOLET DAY.

WELLINGTON, Augus 10. Violet Day was a great success. The weather was fine and workers were busy all day selling flowers, produce and other goods. A procession was held, headed by the Trentham Band. Much interest was taken in a party of Maoris from the Manawatu, who performed a poi dance and sang tunefully. As a result of the day's efforts, £1637 was banked to-night, and there are still some boxes to come in from the suburbs. ;
