SHORTAGE OF 1203

WELLINGTON, April 10. Ihe national shortage for the 30th Reinforcements, for which voluntary enlistment closed' on Thursday last, is J. 203. The ballot commenced Chis afternoon to make up the deficiency. Four names are being drawn to make up for every one of the deficiency, instead of only the proportion of three to one as previously. The reason for the increased proportion is to make up for rrl c tlßlltenmg of the medical standard, m, 5T7812S T 7812 names are now being drawn Ihe Bay of Plenty is the only district which escapes the ballot, having made up its quota voluntarily.
