BOARD.
The Mg demand from a. parts of New Zealand for entrance to the Wanganui •Boys'-and.Girls' Colleges is a tributs ti> the local institutions^ and an indication of the «ducational value placed upon same by people in other parts wiio are, anxious that their beys and girls shall have the best education to b e obtained. The Collegiate School, wo i:nderstand, has been obliged to refuse applications owing to the fact that tha demand for boarding accommodation had been taxed to its utmost, while tho 'Girls' College will open with 108 board•™S Pupils, which is eleven in excess of the previous record, of 97. This, or course, is in addition to the large number of day pupils. The same happy affairs obtains ab the Wanganui Technical College. . The popularity of tho boys' hostel is shown by the fact 'that this year the number of boarders has exceeded last year's record by eight, whilst a yerfj jsatisfactory? xetsponse indeed has been made,to the opening of a hostel for girls.
_ Altogether the educational, institutions of Wanganui ,are doing a big share in the building up of a fine race of young people who are to take the front rank in the affairs of this, and it may be other oountries, in the days to come.
