■•At the Magistrate's Court, George 'Phillips was charged aiuder the anti-

shouting regulations With purchasing

liquor on the licensed premises of the

Commercial Hotel, and inviting Harold .iJhrvis to consume that liquor. Charles

» Gardner (barman) was charged with V selling intoxicating liquor to Phillips, knowing that it was for cQnsiimp.tio.ll by Jarvis. Thomas Childs :(jiceHsee) wW charged with permitting shouting on the premises.. The defendants pleaded not guilty. Phillips and Jarvis and the barman were,fined £5 and costs. The case against Childs was' dismissed, as he was absent from Palmerston when 1 the offence was committed.

William Hodgson was charged with shouting for Martin Kelly at the Ira perial Hotel. Bertie Basil Raynes (•licensee) was charged.with permitting shouting to take place. Defendants pieaded not guilty. The licensee was fined £20, Hodgson and Ejslly £5 each.
