MRS. H. YOUNG.
Another of the fast dimiivshing band of pioneers, to whom the Dominion owes so much, passed away on Saturday in the person of Mrs H. Young, at tho advanced ago. of 86 years. Mrs Youiig was born in, Hereford, England, and came out to' Australia m 1861, by the ship Elizabeth Kimball, .arriving at Melbourne alter a voyage of five months. The deceased lady was married *n Melbourne in 1869 to Mr H. J. Young, and they came to Hokitika by the Claude Hamilton, later fettling at Greymouth. Tiie deceased lady, ; who was predeceased by her husband, possessed a very kindly disposition,. and endeared herself to "everybody with whom she came in contact, and there are many West Coast friends who will ir.oufn her death. The late Mrs. Young is survived by three Sons, Messrs W. £/. ami C. Q. Young, of the well-known local firm of Young and Collins, Ltd., and Mr-H. J. Young, of Auckland. The fourth member of the family, a sister, died in ■Greymouth some years ago.
