In spite of the inclemency of theCweather many friends gathered to congratulate them. Their health was proposed-by Mr John Jones, who had known them for 36 years. Mr. W. ■ Holden spoke from older experience stiU/haying been a shipmate oh the same vessel coming, to New Zealand in 1875. He arid Mr Randal had joined the Anglican Choir the same night, the late Mr J. G. Woon being conductor.

A very pleasant afternoon and evening were spent, and Mr and Mrs Randal were the recipients of many gifts and tokens, telegrams and letters including one from Mr G. F. Allen, of Wellington, who has enjoyed their constant friendship if or ov<ar forty yfeas, and so could most heartily wish them a pr voipngation of their benevolent and use-f-uMife. ~

A very pleasing incident of the evening was the presenting by Mr. T. C. W,ebb,.on behalf of members of Christ Church choir, of a very handsome antique copper tray, suitably uli- Randal having been a member or the choir for over forty years. The choir added materially to tne enjoyment of the evening. Mi- and Mrs Randal were married at Farehanv (n-ear Titehneld)^ Hampshire -bingland, on November 2t>, 1866, Dy the Re,v. Thomas Cousins, assisted by the Rev. Robert,Nobbs. For ihe first few years they lived in London, coming out to New Zealand with some of theiielder children and settling in Wanganui, where Mr Randei almost immediately entered into business, and has heen actively engaged until recently. We join, their many friends in wishing Mr and Mis Randal continued good heaitn and prosperity.
