ANOTHER RIVER VICTIM.
SCHOOL-GIRL DROWNED.
The Wanganui River claimed still another victim yesterday, when a little girl, Rita Maud Hoirnann, aged, 8i years, was drowned at Aramoho. It appears that the child, Avho attends the Aramoho School, and whose parents reside at No. 12 Barrack Street was coming home from school at about- £- 30- When , opposite the Airmoho Tost Offico, she ran down to the pon. toon by the wharf, in company with some othor school children, and apppently over-balanced and fell into the river. An alarm was raised at once, but no further signs of the victim could be seen, she apparently Helng carried under.the pontoon by tho current. ~ Dragging operations were quickly undiertaken by Constable ligan, and the body was recovered at 0.30 p.m., and removed to the residence of the deceased's parents. : Mr Hoffmann,'-who is g^g^r tte railway grawl pit at Wangaeliu, is at" present on leave in Nelson. To him and to the bsreaved mother and family we extend our sympathy in their sudden and trdgic bereavement. An inquest will probably be held this afternoon. r . "
