A NEW WORLD FILM.
"THE PAWN OF FATE."
AT HIS MAJESTrS TO-NIGHT
"The Pawn of Fate." a World's film which has registered an enormous success throughout the four centres of the Dominion, will be the leading attraction at His Majesty's Theatre tonight. The first two acts ore in a
genuine high comedy spirit, and theso lead up gradually to the more dramatic scenes dealing with the tragedy of two livej. which, by a peculiar dramatic twist, turns out happily in the finish. Pierre Dnfrene and his pretty wife are living happily in a little Normandy village. Pierre amuses himself with drawing sketches of his wife and her friends, and the different animals on the farm. Ha is mot by any means an artist, but he finds enjoyment in tlie.se-crude pictures. To the farm comes a celebrated Parisian, artist, Lassa-lle", who seeks to corrupt the wife, but- her innocence prevents her from seeing what is suggested by the artist. The drawings of Pierre are shown to him. He proclaims Pierre to bs a genius, and persuades him to go to Paris Avith his wife. Pierre is,feted as a genius, but at length he realises that he has been a dupe, ai>d the concluding scenes show him having his revenge.
The supporting pictures include the Gavmiont Graphic, a, snow scenic, and an enterprising picture showing the methods of observing heavy gun-fire by means of an observation balloon, and telephone system to the gunners. This choice programme should be well patronised.
