, LONDON, November 24. Obituary.—Sir Hiram Maxim. . [The famous inventor was bom on the sth February, 1840, in Maine, U.S.A. Until a few years ago he .^as a- member of the firm of ,Viek;ers > Sous, and Maxim, and was a civil, mechanical, and electrical engineer. He was the inventor of the automatic system of firearnis, and had conducted extensive experiments with a view of ascertaining how much power was required to perform artificial flight, and has prepared various scientific papers for publication.]
